The darling little dog pictured above is a Havanese.  A perfect example of a typical pet.  It is important to realize that the "show dog" which is what everyone refers to when researching a breed is not what most will have in their home and is the result of many hours of careful training and nurturing as well as a serious studied effort in breeding and selection.  Each litter will possess dogs that are suitable as pets whether or not any of them are show prospects.  In any case, the effort of their homes (in the case of the breeder and permanent home) will have the greatest influence in the behavior, personality and "joy to live with" each dog would possess.
